SRC Update: Valentines Day & Holi Festival

Valentines Day.

On February 14th, SRC celebrated Valentine’s Day: a day to honour our loved ones and those that mean the most to us. Whether it’s a friend, a relative, or anything in between, Valentine’s Day at Mac.Rob exists to spread love in all its forms. In the lead up to Valentine’s Day, students were able to express their love to those around them by purchasing Freddo Frogs with heartfelt messages attached, as well as a recent addition: StarStruck™ Performances, where SRC members serenaded a person of students’ (and teachers’!) choices during Thursday’s Connect, spreading joy, love and laughter throughout the school.

On Valentine’s Day itself, the Mac.Rob community celebrated the courage and talent of our students with a lively Talent Show, hosted by our wonderful Year 11 and 12 SRC Engagement Teams, who worked hard together behind the scenes to create a delightful and unforgettable day of love for our school. With students from across all year levels coming together to showcase their many budding talents, our community was able to enjoy a beautiful atmosphere of love, friendship and music under the warm sun.

We would love to express our appreciation and gratitude to everyone who helped to bring this joyous occasion to life, whether it was through your entertaining performances, planning and teamwork, or your spirited enthusiasm. We hope all of you made many fond memories this Valentine’s Day and continue to spread kindness, love and joy in all its forms throughout the year!

Holi Festival.

On March 17th, SRC brought the major Hindu festival of Holi to life, embracing its vibrant spirit of love, renewal, and togetherness. Originating as a Hindu celebration of the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil, Holi is a festival that brings people together through joy, vibrant colours and culture.

To celebrate this colourful occasion, the Mac.Rob community immersed themselves in the festival’s rich culture through a jam-packed lunchtime of SRC’s Holi Day events. To showcase the wide variety of incredible talents at Mac.Rob, we hosted Cultural Performances. From dancing to singing, this event ignited the school with energy and enthusiasm, bringing people together through culture, music and dance. Alongside the performances, we also had Henna stalls set up outside, where students had the chance to adorn themselves with beautiful Henna designs from our talented student artist volunteers. This year, we introduced a new tradition with Chalk Rangoli Making outside the Gym. Inspired by the traditional Indian art form, students worked together to create colourful designs on the pavement, adding an extra splash of creativity to the day. We also decorated the overpass with information about the festival, so students could learn more about why we celebrate Holi at Mac.Rob.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this day so special – whether you were performing, sharing your knowledge and talents, or just enjoying the festivities, your participation made it all possible. We hope you had a blast and that the spirit of Holi continues to inspire joy and togetherness throughout the year!
