Arts / Tech Faculty Update | Term 1, 2025

International Baccalaureate Visual Art Seminar.

Inspired. Reflective. Amazed. These are three words to describe how the Year 1 and 2 IB Visual Art students felt on February 23rd as they immersed themselves in the 2025 IB Victorian and Tasmanian Visual Arts seminar at the Glen Eira Town Hall Gallery. It featured 13 of our Mac.Rob 2024 IBDP Visual Art students' artworks.

The seminar was a student driven program presented by the Victorian and Tasmanian International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Visual Arts Exhibition Committee. We heard from high achieving 2024 graduate student exhibitors, IBDP Visual Arts teachers and examiners and guest artists.

Finally towards the end of the seminar, we were fortunate enough to receive an inspirational talk from two extremely talented Australian artists, Prudence Flint and Kay Abude. It was so inspiring to hear both these brilliant artists speak about their journeys and the adversity they faced along the way.

Overall this excursion was a very rewarding experience! We received a plethora of advice, detailed mentoring and useful contacts that will surely help us across the next 2 years.

We hope to go again next year, and maybe you can come along too!

Year 11 and 12 Art Making & Exhibiting Excursion.

The VCE Art Making and Exhibiting (AME) students embarked on a highly anticipated excursion to several art galleries, including Top Arts, Arc One, and fortyfivedownstairs, amongst several others. The trip, led by Ms. Tobias, was an incredible opportunity to explore a diverse range of artistic styles, techniques, exhibition spaces and to gain valuable insight into the AME course. We were overwhelmed with inspiration and the insightful experience was super fun while also being enriching.

The day was jam packed, sparking unique ideas and giving us a deeper appreciation for the art world. By the end of the day, we were all exhausted from the gallery-to-gallery walking, but that didn’t stop us from truly enjoying ourselves! It was such a rewarding experience that left us with a new perspective on art beyond the classroom.
